BEVERLY HILLS, CA – Porcelain veneers have grown in popularity and can be used for both aesthetic improvement or to rebuild and replace damaged, worn, or misshapen teeth. These veneers help repair dental trauma, fix tooth discoloration, and decay. Still, some myths remain about veneers and their use.
Myth 1: Veneers are noticeable, and look different than “regular” teeth.
In fact, veneers can be customized to blend in with a patient’s teeth by color, shape and thickness. They’re not whiter or unnatural.
Myth 2: Teeth must be filed down before the veneer can be applied.
Although some reshaping is usually necessary before veneer application, it’s usually minimal. Veneers can be as thin as .3mm, requiring far less prep work than in the past.
Myth 3: Veneers are only needed in the front of the mouth.
While veneers are most commonly fitted on the front six teeth veneers can be used anywhere in the mouth. Veneers can enhance every aspect of a patient’s smile.
Myth 4: Veneers are painful to apply.
There’s no pain or discomfort: patients will receive a local anesthetic, eliminating any possibility of pain during the application process.
